The United States Air Force Thunderbirds fly the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Thunderbird's F-16s primarily wear two paint schemes: the traditional paint scheme that has been in use since 1982 ("Traditional scheme”) and an all-white paint scheme with the exception of red, black, and blue accents at various angles ("Arctic Scheme," first performed at the Reno Air Races as a tribute to Arctic Thunderbird, a Thunderbird pilot lost in a crash of a North American F-100 Super Sabre). Although similar, there are distinct differences with which to tell apart aircraft within the demonstration team with regard to both of these paint schemes.
