There was no VIN code for motorcycles until 1981 as there was really no demand or need. Instead, motorcycles that could be registered for street use often only displayed an engine/frame serial number issued and attached by the manufacturer. These engine/frame serial numbers had different formats and locations according to the manufacturers and models.
So there is most likely no VIN on your 1975 Yamaha.
