1. Warm up the engine. This will help the oil drain more easily.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool slightly.
3. Prepare the necessary tools and supplies. You will need:
* New oil and oil filter (Honda part number 15410-449-015 and 15412-406-070)
* Oil drain pan
* Funnel
* Wrench
* Rags
4. Place the oil drain pan under the engine.
5. Remove the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
6. Allow the oil to drain completely. This may take a few minutes.
7. Replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug until it is snug.
8. Turn the bike on its side so the old oil will drain from the crankcase. Do not lay the bike all the way over because gas and oil could leak out of the airbox on the left side.
9. Locate the oil filter on the left side of the engine.
10. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
11. Remove the old oil filter and discard it.
12. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
13. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine. Tighten the filter until it is snug.
14. Check the oil level window on the right side of the engine. The oil level should be between the "F" and "L" marks.
15. Slowly crank the engine to cycle the new oil through the engine.
16. Check for leaks under the engine.
