Where is the oil drain plug on a Yamaha kodiak 400?

2000-2006

1. Ensure that the engine is warm.

2. Place a drain pan with at least 3.5 quarts capacity under the engine, to catch the oil.

3. Remove the skid plates(s) using a 12 mm wrench or socket.

4. Remove the oil drain plug with a 17mm wrench or socket.

5. Allow the oil to drain completely.

6. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.

2007 and newer

1. Remove the left side plastic from the bike. There are 5 bolts for the plastic.

2. Remove the lower skid plate. There are two bolts for this

3. Remove the oil drain plug.

4. Let the oil drain into a drain pan with at least 2.6-quart capacity.

5. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.

6. Replace the lower skid plate.

7. Replace the plastic on the left side of the bike.
