1. Turn off the fuel petcock. The fuel petcock is located on the right side of the motorcycle, just below the gas tank. Turn the petcock to the "OFF" position.
2. Disconnect the fuel line. There are two fuel lines connected to the gas tank: one that goes to the fuel pump and one that goes to the carburetor. Disconnect both of these fuel lines.
3. Remove the seat. The seat is held in place by two bolts. Remove these bolts and lift the seat off of the motorcycle.
4. Remove the air cleaner cover. The air cleaner cover is located on the right side of the motorcycle, just above the gas tank. Remove the two bolts that hold the air cleaner cover in place and lift the cover off of the motorcycle.
5. Remove the gas tank bolts. There are two gas tank bolts located at the front of the gas tank. Remove these bolts.
6. Disconnect the electrical connections. There are two electrical connections on the left side of the gas tank. Disconnect these connections.
7. Lift the gas tank off of the motorcycle. Carefully lift the gas tank off of the motorcycle. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
Once the gas tank is removed, you can perform any necessary maintenance or repairs.
