1. Drain the coolant from the radiator and engine block.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor.
4. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
5. Remove the bolts that hold the valve cover in place and remove the valve cover.
6. Loosen the bolts that hold the cylinder head in place and remove the cylinder head.
7. Remove the old head gasket from the cylinder head and the engine block.
8. Clean the cylinder head and the engine block mating surfaces.
9. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the new head gasket and install it on the cylinder head.
10. Reinstall the cylinder head and bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.
11. Reinstall the valve cover and bolts.
12. Reinstall the spark plug wires and fuel line.
13. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
14. Refill the coolant system.
15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant.
16. Check for leaks and make sure the engine is running properly.
