Tools:
- Oil filter wrench
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
Materials:
- New oil filter (Yamaha OEM or equivalent)
- New oil (10W-40, 1.1 liters)
Procedure:
1. Prepare the scooter.
Park the scooter on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Locate the oil drain plug and oil filter.
The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the engine, while the oil filter is located on the right side of the engine.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.
4. Loosen the oil drain plug.
Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
5. Allow the oil to drain.
Allow all of the oil to drain out of the engine. This may take a few minutes.
6. Replace the oil drain plug.
Once all of the oil has drained out, replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
7. Remove the oil filter.
Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
8. Inspect the oil filter.
Inspect the old oil filter for any damage or debris. If the filter is damaged, replace it with a new one.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
10. Screw on the new oil filter.
Hand-tighten the new oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
11. Add new oil to the engine.
Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in the owner's manual (1.1 liters).
12. Check the oil level.
Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
14. Check for leaks.
Look under the scooter for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
