It was available in two variations:
* Naturally aspirated: This produced 100 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque.
* Turbocharged: This produced 181 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
There was also a John Cooper Works model with a more powerful turbocharged engine, but that's not considered the base engine.
