currently (as of 2023), the largest engine available in a BMW 3 Series is the
3.0-liter inline-six engine found in the
M340i xDrive and
M3 Competition. This engine produces
382 hp in the M340i and
503 hp in the M3 Competition.
It's worth noting that in the past, the BMW 3 Series has featured even larger engines, such as the 4.4-liter V8 found in the E90 M3, and the 4.0-liter V8 in the E46 M3. However, these engines are no longer available in the current 3 Series models.
