What fluid for power steering in a 96 ford contour?

A 1996 Ford Contour requires Mercon V automatic transmission fluid for its power steering system. Do not use power steering fluid specifically labeled as "power steering fluid" as it may not be compatible. Mercon V ATF is the correct fluid specified by Ford for that year and model.
