How long does the glow plugs come on when engine is warmed up?

Once the engine is warmed up, the glow plugs should not come on at all. Their purpose is to preheat the combustion chamber in cold temperatures to aid starting. If they're activating after the engine is warm, there's a problem with the glow plug system and it needs to be investigated.
