What is traction control on a Ford Windstar?

The Ford Windstar, depending on the year and trim level, may or may not have had traction control. It wasn't a standard feature across all models.

If a Windstar *did* have traction control, it's a system designed to prevent wheel spin during acceleration on slippery surfaces (like snow, ice, or wet roads). It works by monitoring the speed of each wheel and, if one wheel starts spinning faster than the others (indicating loss of traction), it reduces power to that wheel and/or applies the brakes to that wheel to regain traction. This helps maintain control and stability.

Essentially, it helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle when accelerating on low-traction surfaces. It's different from anti-lock brakes (ABS), which prevent wheel lockup during braking. Some Windstars may have had ABS and traction control, while others only had ABS or neither.
