Are the engine temperature and oil pressure gauges linked?

No, engine temperature and oil pressure gauges are not directly linked. They measure completely separate aspects of engine health:

* Engine temperature gauge: Measures the temperature of the engine coolant. A malfunctioning cooling system will affect this reading.

* Oil pressure gauge: Measures the pressure of the engine oil. This reflects the health of the oil pump and the condition of the engine's bearings and seals.

While low oil pressure can *indirectly* lead to higher engine temperatures (due to reduced lubrication and increased friction), the gauges themselves are independent and measure different parameters. A problem with one doesn't automatically mean a problem with the other.
