Who made the hemi engine?

While the Hemi engine's design has been refined and iterated upon by many, the basic hemispherical combustion chamber design is most strongly associated with Chrysler. They are credited with popularizing and significantly developing the modern Hemi engine. However, other manufacturers have used hemispherical combustion chambers in their engines throughout history.
