Where is thermostat on 89 7.3 diesel?

The 1989 Ford 7.3L diesel doesn't have a thermostat in the same way a gasoline engine might. Instead of a single thermostat housing, the cooling system uses a thermostatically controlled coolant bypass valve. This valve is integrated into the water pump housing. You won't find a separate thermostat to replace like you would in many other engines.
