To find the correct fuse(s):
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is the best resource. It will show you the fuse box diagrams and indicate which fuse(s) control the tail lights.
2. Locate the fuse box(es): The 1997 Wrangler likely has one or more fuse boxes, potentially one under the hood and one inside the vehicle (often under the dash).
3. Check the fuses: Carefully examine the fuses associated with the tail lights (usually labeled as such). Look for a blown fuse (a broken filament inside the glass).
Important Note: If you find a blown fuse, replace it with a fuse of the same amperage. Replacing it with a higher amperage fuse is a fire hazard. If the fuse blows again immediately after replacement, there's a short circuit in the wiring that needs to be addressed by a qualified mechanic. Don't simply keep replacing the fuse.
