The oil drain plug on a 1987 Mustang 5.0L is located on the bottom of the oil pan. The oil pan is the large, somewhat shallow, tray-like component underneath the engine. You'll need to get underneath the car to access it. It's typically a fairly large bolt, likely 13/16" or 21mm. Be sure to have an oil pan to catch the oil before removing the plug.
