On a 1992 Ford Tempo, the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor) is located on the
passenger side of the engine, near the
transmission bellhousing. It's usually mounted on the engine block itself, fairly close to where the crankshaft protrudes. You'll likely need to get under the car or possibly remove some components to see it clearly.
Because there can be slight variations depending on the specific engine (2.3L or 1.9L), a visual inspection with a repair manual diagram is highly recommended to pinpoint its exact location on your particular Tempo. A repair manual specific to a 1992 Ford Tempo will have diagrams showing the sensor's location.
