Does the Temp coolant sensor on 4.3 engine control temperate gage dash?

No, the coolant temperature sensor that controls the temperature gauge on the dash of a 4.3L engine (and most vehicles) is a *separate* sensor from the one used for engine control (like for the PCM/ECM). They may be similar in function, but are different sensors in different locations with different resistances/outputs. The engine control module (ECM) uses a more precise sensor for accurate fuel injection and ignition timing. The gauge sensor provides a simplified signal for the gauge. One failing doesn't automatically mean the other will.
