What happens if you pump the brake pedal with master cylinder cover off?

If you pump the brake pedal with the master cylinder cover off, you'll lose all brake fluid. The master cylinder cover is there to seal the reservoir and prevent fluid from escaping. Without it, each pump of the pedal will push fluid directly out of the reservoir. This will quickly render your brakes inoperative and requires immediate attention to refill the master cylinder and bleed the brake lines to restore functionality.
