Where is the fuel tank and where sending unit on a 1995 XJS convertible?

On a 1995 Jaguar XJS convertible, the fuel tank is located in the rear of the vehicle, behind the rear seats and under the trunk floor (boot). It's generally a fairly large, somewhat trapezoidal-shaped tank.

The fuel sending unit is *inside* the fuel tank itself. You can't access it without dropping the fuel tank. It's not a separate, easily accessible component. To get to it, you'd need to:

1. Drain the fuel tank: This is crucial for safety.

2. Disconnect the fuel lines: This also requires care to avoid spills and potential fire hazards.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector: This is the wire going to the sending unit.

4. Lower the fuel tank: This often involves loosening various straps and bolts securing it to the car's underbody.

Accessing the sending unit is a significant undertaking and generally requires mechanical expertise. Unless you have experience working on cars, this should be done by a qualified mechanic.
