1. Gather tools and materials. You will need:
- New starter
- Starter mounting bolts
- Wrench set
- Socket set
- Screwdriver
- Extension cord
2. Prepare the car.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
- Set the parking brake and chock the wheels.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Locate the starter.
- The starter is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the top. It is cylindrical, about the size of a soda can, and has two terminals on the back.
4. Remove the old starter.
