- Timing belt tension gauge
Instructions:
1. Remove the spark plug wires.
2. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
3. Remove the timing belt cover.
4. Rotate the engine until the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets are aligned.
5. Install the new timing belt around the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
6. Tighten the timing belt tensioner bolt to 20 ft-lbs.
7. Install the timing belt cover.
8. Install the crankshaft pulley.
9. Reinstall the spark plug wires.
10. Start the engine and check the timing. Adjust as necessary.
11. Replace the air cleaner cover and the ignition system components.
Tips:
- Make sure that the timing belt is properly tensioned. An improperly tensioned timing belt can cause engine damage.
- Check the timing multiple times during the installation process.
- Be careful not to drop any bolts or nuts into the engine.
