Will a malfunctioning tps cause the engine to stall at same rpms every time or would it fluctuate?

A malfunctioning throttle position sensor (TPS) can cause the engine to stall at the same RPMs every time or it can cause the RPMs to fluctuate.

If the TPS is sending an incorrect signal to the engine control unit (ECU), the ECU will not be able to properly control the air/fuel mixture and the engine will stall. If the TPS is sending an intermittent signal, the ECU will not be able to properly control the air/fuel mixture and the engine will stall or the RPMs will fluctuate.

The best way to determine if a malfunctioning TPS is causing the engine to stall is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
