If the TPS is sending an incorrect signal to the engine control unit (ECU), the ECU will not be able to properly control the air/fuel mixture and the engine will stall. If the TPS is sending an intermittent signal, the ECU will not be able to properly control the air/fuel mixture and the engine will stall or the RPMs will fluctuate.
The best way to determine if a malfunctioning TPS is causing the engine to stall is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
