- Replacement brake master cylinder
- Brake fluid (DOT 3)

1. Disconnect the Negative Battery Terminal:
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shock and any potential damage.
2. Locate the Brake Master Cylinder:
- Open the hood of the car and locate the brake master cylinder. It is typically mounted on the firewall near the brake booster.
3. Disconnect the Brake Lines:
- Use a flare nut wrench to loosen and disconnect the brake lines coming from the master cylinder. Be ready to catch any leaking brake fluid.
4. Remove the Master Cylinder:
- Remove the nuts or bolts holding the brake master cylinder in place using your wrench set. Carefully remove the master cylinder.
5. Install the New Master Cylinder:
- Place the new master cylinder in position and secure it with the nuts or bolts. Make sure the brake lines are properly connected to their respective ports.
6. Fill and Bleed the Brake System:
- Use a funnel to fill the new master cylinder with fresh DOT 3 brake fluid until the reservoir is full.
- Bleed the brake system to remove any trapped air. Start with the brake caliper furthest from the master cylinder, then work your way towards the closest one. Use a screwdriver or pliers to loosen and retighten the bleeder screw while an assistant presses and releases the brake pedal. Repeat this process for each wheel.
7. Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
8. Final Check and Test:
- Ensure the brake fluid reservoir is full.
- Test the brakes by gently applying pressure to the brake pedal. Verify that the pedal feels firm and the brakes respond appropriately.
