1. Gather tools and materials:
- Replacement tail light assembly (matching your vehicle's model and year)
- Socket wrench
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Flashlight
- Replacement bulbs (if necessary)
2. Park the vehicle safely:
- Park your Cadillac on level ground and engage the parking brake.
3. Open the trunk:
- Locate the trunk release lever inside the vehicle and pull it to open the trunk.
4. Locate the tail light assembly:
- Inside the trunk, find the tail light assembly on the side that needs replacement. It may be held in place by screws or bolts.
5. Remove the screws or bolts:
- Use the socket wrench to loosen and remove the screws or bolts securing the tail light assembly.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector:
- Locate the electrical connector attached to the tail light assembly. Gently press the release tab on the connector and pull it to disconnect the electrical connection.
7. Remove the old tail light assembly:
- Remove the tail light assembly from the vehicle by pulling on it gently. Be careful not to drop or damage the assembly.
8. Transfer bulbs to the new assembly (if needed):
- If the new tail light assembly doesn't come with bulbs, carefully transfer the bulbs from the old assembly to the new one. Make sure to place them in the correct positions.
9. Connect the electrical connector:
- Connect the electrical connector to the new tail light assembly by aligning it with the socket and pushing until it clicks into place.
10. Re-install the tail light assembly:
- Align the new tail light assembly with the mounting holes on the vehicle. Secure it using the screws or bolts you removed earlier.
11. Test the tail light:
- Turn on the headlights or hazard lights to check if the new tail light assembly is functioning correctly.
12. Close the trunk:
- Once you've confirmed that the new tail light is working properly, close the trunk.
