NOTE: The fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank.
1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
Disconnect the fuel line going to the fuel injector rail. Cover the fuel line and injector to prevent fuel from spraying out. Start the engine and allow the engine to run until it stalls out. This reduces the amount of fuel in the lines.
2. Remove the fuel pump assembly.
The fuel pump assembly is located on the top of the fuel tank. To remove it, you will need to:
- Remove the two bolts holding the fuel pump assembly to the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.
- Remove the rubber hose connecting the fuel pump assembly to the fuel tank.
3. Remove the fuel filter.
The fuel filter is located inside the fuel pump assembly. To remove it, you will need to:
- Remove the four bolts holding the fuel pump cover in place.
- Remove the fuel pump cover.
- Remove the fuel filter.
4. Install the new fuel filter.
Insert the new fuel filter into the fuel pump housing.
5. Install the fuel pump assembly.
Install the fuel pump assembly in reverse order of removal.
6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
