Where is the oil filter on your 2006 Mazda miata?

-Turn off engine and allow to cool for a few minutes.

-Raise the front of your Miata using jack stands or ramps. Make sure the car is in Park and the emergency brake is engaged.

-Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine oil pan. It is a 17mm bolt.

-Place an oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.

-Loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.

-Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug.

-Locate the oil filter on the side of the engine block, just above the oil pan.

-Use a strap wrench or oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.

Be sure to catch the remaining oil as you remove the filter.

-Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

-Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter housing until it is hand tight.

-Do not over-tighten the oil filter.

-Lower the vehicle.

-Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

-Check for leaks under the car.
