What is dextron 2 atf transmission fluid or motor oil?

Dextron 2 is an automatic transmission fluid (ATF). It is not motor oil. Motor oil is used in internal combustion engines to lubricate the moving parts and to cool them. ATF is used in automatic transmissions to transmit power from the engine to the wheels and to lubricate the transmission components. Dextron 2 is an older type of ATF that is no longer used in most vehicles. Newer vehicles use Dexron III or Dexron VI ATF.
