1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down.
2. Crawl under the vehicle and locate the oil filter. It is usually located on the bottom of the engine, near the oil pan. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.
3. Place an oil pan under the oil filter to catch any dripping oil.
4. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter. Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the oil filter is loose.
5. Remove the oil filter by hand. Be careful not to spill any oil.
6. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
7. Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter mounting surface. Turn the oil filter clockwise until it is snug.
8. Lower the vehicle and start the engine. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil.
9. Check the oil level and add oil if necessary.
