Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal. This will help to prevent accidental electrical shock.
Step 2: Remove the steering wheel
Remove the steering wheel by following the instructions in the vehicle owner's manual. You may need a special steering wheel puller tool to remove the steering wheel.
Step 3: Remove the ignition switch cover
Remove the ignition switch cover by removing the screws or bolts that hold it in place. To do this you may need to remove your instrument cluster
Step 4: Remove the ignition switch housing
Remove the ignition switch housing by pressing down on the lock cylinder release button and turning the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Pull the ignition switch housing straight out of the steering column.
Step 5: Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder
Insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn it to the "LOCK" position. Use a small screwdriver or punch to press the lock cylinder release button. Pull the ignition switch lock cylinder straight out of the housing.
Step 6: Install the new ignition switch lock cylinder
Insert the new ignition switch lock cylinder into the housing. Press down on the lock cylinder release button and turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the "ON" position.
Step 7: Install the ignition switch housing
Install the ignition switch housing by sliding it straight into the steering column.
Step 8: Install the ignition switch cover
Install the ignition switch cover by replacing the screws or bolts that you removed in Step 3.
Step 9: Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
Step 10: Test the ignition switch
Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "ON" position. The vehicle should start.
