1. Disconnect the battery. This is the most important step, as it will prevent any electrical damage to your car. To disconnect the battery, simply turn the ignition to the "Off" position and then open the hood. Locate the negative battery terminal (it's usually marked with a minus sign), and loosen the nut that holds it in place. Once the nut is loose, remove the terminal from the battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel. To do this, you'll need a Torx T30 screwdriver. Remove the two screws that hold the steering wheel in place, and then carefully pull the wheel off the steering column. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring behind the steering wheel.
3. Remove the instrument cluster. There are four screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. Two are located at the top of the cluster, and two are located at the bottom. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws, and then carefully pull the cluster out of the dash. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring behind the cluster.
4. Remove the center console. There are four screws that hold the center console in place. Two are located at the front of the console, and two are located at the back. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws, and then carefully pull the console out of the dash. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring behind the console.
5. Remove the dash. There are several screws that hold the dash in place. They are typically located around the perimeter of the dash, as well as behind the instrument cluster and center console. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws, and then carefully pull the dash out of the car. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring behind the dash.
