Will oil still drip freely from rear main seal when engine is not running?

In most cases, no. When the engine is not running, there is no oil pressure, so the oil will not be forced out of the rear main seal. However, if the oil level in the engine is too high, or if the rear main seal is damaged, oil may still drip from the rear main seal even when the engine is not running.
