Here are the steps to replace the fuel pump on a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice 5.0 liter:

*Tools and Materials Needed:*

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Screwdriver

- Fuel line pliers

- Pliers

- Siphon hose

- Replacement fuel pump

- Gaskets

- Fuel injection cleaner

*Step 1: Disconnect the battery.*

- Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to avoid electrical shock.

*Step 2: Relieve fuel system pressure.*

- If your Caprice has fuel injection, remove the gas cap and relieve fuel system pressure by connecting a fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. If it is a carburetor, proceed to the next step.

*Step 3: Remove the fuel tank.*

- Raise the rear of the car with jack stands or ramps and locate the fuel tank.

- Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel tank.

- Remove the bolts holding the fuel tank in place and carefully lower the fuel tank.
