Why on a 1996 Tahoe 5.7L engine at TDC and rotor pointing to number 1 post in distributor I cannot get ignition advance set zero using auto scanner tool?

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to get the ignition advance set to zero using an auto scanner tool:

1. Incorrect firing order: Ensure that the firing order on the auto scanner tool matches the firing order for your 1996 Tahoe 5.7L engine.

2. Faulty distributor: The distributor may be faulty or worn out, preventing proper alignment of the rotor and ignition timing.

- Check the distributor cap

- Check your rotor

3. Faulty ignition module:

4. Damaged/ stretched timing chain :

5. Bad crankshaft sensor : The Crankshaft position sensor provides the PCM with a reference signal the PCM can use to determine engine revolutions per minute (RPM).

6. Faulty ECU (Engine Control Unit)
