Park your vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
Raise the vehicle using a car jack or vehicle lift. Make sure the vehicle is securely supported before proceeding.
Locate the sump plug and drain pan. The sump plug is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan.
Place the drain pan under the sump plug and loosen the plug using a wrench to allow the oil to drain into the pan.
While the oil is draining, remove the sump bolts around the perimeter of the sump using a wrench.
Carefully lower the sump and remove it from the vehicle.
Clean the sump and the mating surface of the oil pan. Remove any old gasket material or sealant from the surface.
Apply a new gasket or sealant to the mating surface of the oil pan.
Position the sump in place and carefully tighten the sump bolts in a crisscross pattern to evenly distribute the pressure.
Replace the sump plug and tighten it securely.
Lower the vehicle and fill the engine with the recommended amount and type of oil.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the oil. Check for any leaks from the sump or the oil pan.
