_NOTE: The throttle body needs to be removed in order to remove the throttle cable._
1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent the engine from accidentally starting while you're working on the throttle cable.
2. Remove the air filter. This will give you access to the throttle body and the throttle cable.
3. Remove the throttle body. There are four bolts that hold the throttle body in place. Remove these bolts and then lift the throttle body off of the engine.
4. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body. There is a small metal clip that holds the throttle cable in place. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry this clip off. Then, simply pull the throttle cable out of the throttle body.
5. Remove the throttle cable from the handlebar. There are two bolts that hold the throttle cable in place at the handlebar. Remove these bolts and then slide the throttle cable out of the handlebar.
That's it! You have now successfully removed the throttle cable from your 2004 Honda Shadow Aero.
To reinstall the throttle cable, simply follow these steps in reverse order.
