1. Wheel Removal:
- Loosen the lug nuts to loosen the rear wheel.
- Elevate the rear of the ATV using a lift stand.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheel.
2. Brake Drum Cover Removal:
- Remove the two 17mm bolts holding the brake drum cover in place.
- Pull the cover off to expose the brake drum.
3. Brake Shoe Spring Disconnection:
- Locate the brake shoe springs connecting the brake shoes to the brake actuating arm.
- Use a suitable tool, like a flat-head screwdriver, to carefully detach the springs. Be cautious not to damage the springs.
4. Brake Actuating Arm Removal:
- Identify the bolt securing the brake actuating arm to the backing plate.
- Remove the bolt and detach the brake actuating arm from the backing plate.
5. Brake Shoe Removal:
- Slide out the brake shoes from the brake drum. Remove both the inner and outer brake shoes.
6. Brake Drum Removal:
- Once the brake shoes are removed, you can now take out the brake drum from the hub.
- Gently pull the drum towards you to remove it.
Note:
- Ensure the parking brake is disengaged before removing the brake drum.
- Take precautions to avoid damaging the brake shoes and springs during disassembly.
