1. Gather your tools. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a flat head screwdriver, a socket wrench set, and a new speedometer cable.
2. Park your motorcycle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
3. Locate the speedometer cable. The speedometer cable is located behind the front wheel. It is a black cable that runs from the speedometer to the front wheel.
4. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the speedometer. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the speedometer cable in place. Then, pull the speedometer cable out of the speedometer.
5. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the front wheel. Use the flat head screwdriver to pry off the spring clip that holds the speedometer cable in place. Then, pull the speedometer cable out of the front wheel.
6. Remove the old speedometer cable. Use the socket wrench set to remove the two bolts that hold the speedometer cable in place. Then, pull the old speedometer cable out of the motorcycle.
7. Install the new speedometer cable. Insert the new speedometer cable into the motorcycle. Then, replace the two bolts that hold the speedometer cable in place. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
8. Reconnect the speedometer cable to the front wheel. Insert the speedometer cable into the front wheel. Then, replace the spring clip that holds the speedometer cable in place.
9. Reconnect the speedometer cable to the speedometer. Insert the speedometer cable into the speedometer. Then, replace the two screws that hold the speedometer cable in place. Tighten the screws until they are snug.
10. Test the speedometer. Start the engine and ride the motorcycle for a short distance. Make sure that the speedometer is working properly.

* If you have any difficulty removing the old speedometer cable, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen the bolts.
