2. Remove the starter cover. The starter cover is usually located on the side of the engine. It is held in place by a few bolts. Remove the bolts and remove the cover.
3. Disconnect the starter wires. There are two wires connected to the starter. One wire is the positive wire, and the other wire is the negative wire. Disconnect the wires by removing the nuts that hold them in place.
4. Remove the starter bolts. The starter is held in place by two or three bolts. Remove the bolts and remove the starter.
5. Replace the starter. If your starter is damaged, you will need to replace it with a new one. Installation is the reverse of removal.
6. Reconnect the battery. Reconnect the positive battery cable first, then the negative cable.
