Steps to Clean the Carburetor
1. Remove the carburetor:
- Remove the fuel line.
- Remove the air filter.
- Disconnect the throttle linkage.
- Disconnect the choke cable.
- Remove the four bolts that hold the carburetor to the engine.
- Carefully remove the carburetor from the engine.
2. Disassemble the carburetor:
- Remove the float bowl.
- Remove the float.
- Remove the main jet.
- Remove the pilot jet.
- Remove the needle jet.
- Remove the slide valve.
3. Clean the carburetor parts:
- Spray the carburetor parts with carburetor cleaner.
- Use a soft cloth to wipe the parts clean.
- Be sure to clean the jets thoroughly.
4. Reassemble the carburetor:
- Install the slide valve.
- Install the needle jet.
- Install the main jet.
- Install the pilot jet.
- Install the float.
- Install the float bowl.
5. Re-install the carburetor on the engine:
- Carefully place the carburetor on the engine.
- Reinstall the bolts.
- Reattach the choke cable.
- Reattach the throttle linkage.
- Reattach the air filter.
- Reattach the fuel line.
After Cleaning
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for fuel leaks.
- If there are no fuel leaks, turn the engine off and reinstall the fuel tank and seat.
