Step 1: Tools Needed
Before starting, gather the necessary tools:
10 mm socket wrench
Flat head screwdriver
Pliers
Hose clamp pliers
Step 2: Disconnect Battery
Important: Disconnect the negative terminal of your battery to avoid any electrical accidents during the removal process.
Step 3: Remove Seat and Side Panels
Start by prying off the seat using a flat head screwdriver from the area where it meets the gas tank.
After removing the seat, you will see the side body panels. Remove these panels by unclipping the tabs and unscrewing the bolts that hold them in place.
Step 4: Locate Gas Tank Bolts
Once the side panels are removed, locate the gas tank bolts. There will be two bolts at the front and one bolt at the rear of the gas tank.
Step 5: Disconnect Fuel Line
Use a flathead screwdriver to release the clamps securing the fuel line to the gas tank. Ensure that you have a container ready to catch any remaining fuel in the hose.
Step 6: Remove Gas Tank
Now that you have disconnected the fuel line and removed the gas tank bolts, you can lift and pull out the gas tank. Do this slowly and carefully to avoid spilling any fuel.
Step 7: Clean and Reinstall
Before reinstalling the gas tank, take some time to inspect and clean it. If you notice any damage or leaks, be sure to have it repaired or replaced.
Once the tank is clean and dry, reinstall it in reverse order of the steps you took to remove it.
Remember to reconnect the fuel line and tighten the clamps securely.
Recheck all bolts to ensure they are tightened properly.
