- Replacement air filter (check owner's manual for specific part number)
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Clean rag or towel
Instructions:
1. Locate the air filter housing. It is usually a plastic box located in the engine bay, near the top of the engine. It may have a black or silver cover.
2. Open the air filter housing. There may be a clip or latch that you need to release, or you may need to use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the cover in place.
3. Remove the old air filter. It is usually a rectangular or cylindrical piece of foam or paper. Be careful not to drop the filter into the engine compartment.
4. Clean the air filter housing. Use a clean rag or towel to wipe away any dirt or debris from the inside of the housing.
5. Install the new air filter. Make sure that the new filter is the same size and shape as the old filter. Press it firmly into place.
6. Replace the air filter housing cover. Secure it with the clip or latch, or replace the screws that you removed earlier.
That's it! You've successfully replaced the air filter on your 1992 VW GTI 16V.
