Tools and Materials:
- New water pump
- Gasket
- Replacement coolant (mix of 50% antifreeze and 50% water)
- Wrench set

- Drain pan

Instructions:
1. Park your Saab on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
2. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels. Open the hood and locate the water pump.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. This will prevent the engine from starting while you are working on it.
4. Drain the coolant from the system. Place a drain pan under the radiator and loosen the drain plug. Allow the coolant to drain completely.
5. Remove the bolts holding the water pump in place. There are typically four bolts that need to be removed.
6. Remove the old water pump gasket and scrape off any remaining sealant.
7. Install the new water pump gasket and then the new water pump. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
8. Reinstall the battery ground cable. Fill the cooling system with the replacement coolant.
9. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.
10. Turn off the engine and let it cool down completely. Recheck the coolant level and add more if necessary.
