1. Park your car on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Open the hood of your car.
3. Locate the oil dipstick. It is usually located near the oil filler cap.
4. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a paper towel.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the oil fill tube.
6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on the dipstick.
7. If the oil level is low, add oil to the engine. Use the type of oil specified in your owner's manual.
8. Add oil slowly, in small increments. Check the oil level frequently to avoid overfilling.
9. Once the oil level is between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks, replace the dipstick and close the hood of your car.
