- Faulty tachometer
- Faulty throttle position sensor
- Vacuum leaks
- Transmission issues
Diagnosis
- Start by reading the fault codes with a scan tool to see if there is any recorded trouble codes.
- Check the tachometer to see if it is operating properly. This can be done by comparing it to another tachometer or by checking the voltage output of the tachometer sensor.
- Check the throttle position sensor to see if it is operating properly. This can be done by checking the output voltage of the sensor at different throttle positions.
- Check for vacuum leaks by inspecting the vacuum lines and hoses for cracks or damage.
- Check the transmission fluid level and condition to make sure it is correct.
