1. Open the hood of your car.
2. Locate the throttle body. It is usually a black or silver cylindrical-shaped part with a butterfly valve inside.
3. The idle control valve is usually located on the side of the throttle body. It is a small, round, or rectangular-shaped device with a wire connector attached to it.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ICV.
5. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts holding the ICV in place.
6. Remove the ICV from the throttle body.
7. Inspect the ICV for any damage or build-up. Clean it with a non-abrasive cleaner.
8. Once the ICV is clean, re-install it in the reverse order of removal.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector.
10. Start the engine and check the idle speed. If the idle speed is not correct, adjust it according to the manufacturer's specifications.
