How do you turn off brake pad warning light on vw polo?

To reset the brake pad wear indicator on a VW Polo, follow the steps below:

1. Engage the parking brake.

2. Open the hood.

3. Locate the brake fluid reservoir. On the Polo, it is on the driver’s side of the engine bay, towards the back of the bay. It has a black cap with a yellow "BRAKE FLUID" label on it.

4. Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir and set it aside.

5. Locate the brake pad wear sensor wires located along the top edge of the brake fluid reservoir.

There will be two wires for each rear brake (4 total) that plug into the top of the reservoir.

They will have black connectors with a white release tab on the center of the connector.

6. Push down on the release tabs on the connector of the brake pad sensor wire plugs and pull the plugs out of their ports in the reservoir.

Do not let the sensor wire plugs come into contact with the ground or any metal object or the car’s computer system may be damaged

7. Start the engine and let it run for 5 seconds.

8. Shut the engine off.

9. Disconnect the battery.

10. Wait 5-10 seconds and reconnect the battery.

11. Start the engine.

12. The brake pad wear indicator light should be off. If not then repeat the steps starting at step 6.

Note: If your Polo has a manual transmission, you may also need to press the clutch pedal while performing the above steps.

Once the brake pad wear indicator is turned off, it is important to have your brake pads inspected by a qualified mechanic to ensure that they are still safe to use.
