1. Engine at TDC (Top Dead Center) on compression stroke:
- The timing mark on the camshaft pulley should be aligned with the mark on the cylinder head.
- The timing mark on the injection pump pulley should be aligned with the mark on the pump body.
2. Camshaft pulley to cylinder head:
- The camshaft pulley should be turned clockwise until the timing mark is aligned with the mark on the cylinder head.
- The pulley should then be tightened to the specified torque of 25 Nm (18 ft-lb).
3. Injection pump pulley to pump body:
- The injection pump pulley should be turned counterclockwise until the timing mark is aligned with the mark on the pump body.
- The pulley should then be tightened to the specified torque of 25 Nm (18 ft-lb).
4. Timing belt tension:
- The timing belt should be tensioned to the specified tension of 60-75 Nm (44-55 ft-lb).
- The tension can be checked using a timing belt tension gauge or by measuring the deflection of the belt between two points.
It is important to follow the recommended timing belt settings to ensure proper engine operation and prevent damage to the engine. If you are unsure about how to set the timing belt, it is recommended to consult a qualified mechanic.
