* A damaged oil separator: The oil separator is a device that helps to remove oil vapor from the air that enters the intake manifold. If the oil separator is damaged, it can allow oil vapor to pass through and enter the intake manifold.
* Leaking valve cover gasket: If the valve cover gasket leaks oil it will leak into the spark plug tubes and down the back of the head and will follow the intake gasket path until it collects in the intake manifold.
